We are now facing a global emergency. The world`s leading climate scientists are warning that global warming must be stopped within a few years or the environmental, economic and social consequences will be catastrophic.
The major challenge now facing humanity is to prevent runaway climate change through supporting the transformation of our economy and culture into an environmentally sustainable system.
This illustrated presentation will explain the disastrous impacts of increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases; why new systems-based views, values and technologies make rapid constructive change possible; and how these developments affect the priorities of researchers, educators and students. The presentation will be followed by a discussion.
Graeme Taylor's focus is on developing sustainable solutions to global problems. He has published articles on societal evolution, evolutionary systems theory, the historical evolution of societal systems and worldviews, the design of a sustainable civilization, and sustainable technologies. His most recent publication is `Evolution`s Edge: the Coming Collapse and Transformation of Our World.`
The seminars are free, and all academics, staff, students, and interested persons are welcome.
