A group of 65 Form One students, accompanied by four teachers, from Chung Hua Middle School Kuala Belait yesterday visited the Brunei Darussalam National Archives located at Jalan Menteri Besar, right next to the Legislative Council Building.
The visit was aimed at giving the students a greater insight into the country's rich culture and history.

According to the Archive Curator Md Jefri Hj Sabli, the students were able to acquire information by means of viewing the exhibitions, and a short video on the early days of Brunei Darussalam.

The purpose of the Brunei Darussalam National Archives is to keep and preserve government and public archives and records in accordance with the National Archives Act, 1975 revised 1981, he said.

It was initially established as a support section under the administration of the Brunei Museum Department in 1977, and today it is a resource centre for the public, especially university undergraduates to access and view the archives for research.
