Iran and Uruguay stressed the need for strengthening of mutual educational and scientific cooperation in Montevideo.

Meeting with Uruguayan Minister of Education, Sports and Youth Maria Simon, the chancellor of Tehran University Farhad Rahbar called for expansion of joint academic cooperation.

In addition, Rahbar briefed the Uruguayan side on the country's educational system.

Ms. Simon, for her part, expressed her country's interest in boosting mutual academic relations with Iran.

Holding talks with Rahbar, chancellors of some Uruguayan private and state universities called for enhancement of ties between the two sides' academic centers as well as establishment of a Persian language institution in Uruguay which was welcomed by the Iranian side.

The two countries expressed their willingness to exchange their research, technical and scientific experiences.

Ms. Simon also received an invitation from her Iranian part to visit Iran. --IRNA
