The Education Ministry launched the national district education cooperation council to tackle problems in schools, today.
Deputy education minister Datuk Razali Ismail said the council would act as a centre to streamline information related to the academic issues, disciplinary problems and welfare of students and professionals in the education field and infrastructure.
The council will be chaired by the education officer from each district. altogether 139 officers nationwide.
Prior to the formation of the council, an unofficial form of cooperation had existed, though there are some districts in the country which have none. The council also comprises representatives from several agencies, including the police, state health department and the parent-teacher association.
