A total of 16 projects related to education were approved for funding by the EU from the 2007-2013 budget. A further 10 projects are awaiting approval, Education Minister Dolores Cristina said. The projects range from the construction of a multimedia training centre at the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology to a research laboratory at the University of Malta.
In all, half of the EU projects for 2007-2013 will be dedicated to education, up from 33 per cent for the 2004-2006 period.
The funds obtained so far were used to train 11,645 people, among other iniatives.
