The Bayelsa State Governor, Chief Timipre Sylva has identified faulty educational system as the remote cause of youth restiveness and increasing waves of militancy in the state.
Chief Sylva, who stated this while answering questions relating to educational problems in the state, during workers' parliament, said that towards this end, the state is going to hold stakeholders forum that would comprise teachers, parents, traditional rulers, youths, opinion leaders and experts in the sector.
In addition, he said, the state government will build and equip three model secondary schools, one in each of the senatorial districts, while the establishment of College of Education is in the pipeline.
The governor, however, accused teachers of encouraging the stealing of available instructural materials in their schools saying this is not acceptable to his administration.
According to him, there is need for head of government institutions to protect public property in their custody, stating that a situation where the state records 13 per cent in external exams does not speak well of the teachers.
The governor, however, approved a coaster bus for the state branch of ANCOPASS.
