PESHAWAR: The district chapter of all Primary Teachers Association has asked the provincial government to set up a separate educational institution for the orphan children at district level across the province. The government is spending huge money every year on awarding scholarships to the selected orphan children studying in public and private sector schools", the teachers' leaders said while speaking at a meeting held at government primary school Lakki Meenakhel on Sunday. The Apta district chapter president Imtiaz Khan Khoidadkhel presided over the meeting. General secretary Jamil Ahmad Khan Haqdad Abadi, chief organizer Haji Abdul Qayyum Khan, chairman Apta supreme council Fazalur Rehman, senior vice president Samargul and others attended the meeting. They raised objections over the prevailing procedure of extending financial assistance to the orphan students and said that all the orphan children deserved to be provided opportunities of getting education on government expenses. They lamented that the fatherless (orphan) students who had qualified the written test in the year 2006 got scholarships in the July 2008. There is a possibility that the orphan students may utilize the financial aid on fulfilling their domestic needs and requirements other than spending it on educational expenses", they said, calling upon the government to set up special schools in each district of the province to impart free education up to secondary level to the orphan children.
