MARAWI CITY - The Commission on Higher Education-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CHED-ARMM) has launched an educational opportunities program for the Bangsamoro people and other ethnic groups funded by Saudi Arabia.
Norma Mangondato Sharief, managing commissioner of CHED-ARMM, said that a $500,000 funding assistance from Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, of the Kingdom Foundation of Saudi Arabia, will soon be released for the program intended for the Bangsamoro people and other ethnic groups, including those from the Cordilleras.
She said the educational opportunities program will focus more on private Higher Education Institutes (HEI) all over the ARMM and some in the Cordilleras.
At least 68 HEIs are now identified in the program to include research, scholarship, and training that are all geared for the development of the moro people in Southern Mindanao and the ethnic groups in the Cordilleras, Dr. Sharief said. -- Lino dela Cruz
