MANSFIELD — Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center Board of Governors approved numerous hires to serve its 18 school districts.
Polly Swesey was hired as the district's new talented and gifted teacher on a one-year contract.
Before voting, board members questioned Superintendent Michael Cline if any employment contracts included people related to current MOESC employees.
Swesey is related to MOESC educational consultant Ed Swesey but there is no supervisory responsibility with her husband, Cline said.
Cline said all applicants at MOESC must fill out a pre-employment form indicating if there are current MOESC employees they are related to either by birth or marriage.
In other business, the board considered a new mission statement and logo to include accountability. The board did not take action on the proposals.
In an addendum, the board also accepted the resignation of Robert Neumann, special education consultant, effective this past Monday.
