Amanda Benney, Assistant Professor of Speech at Rock Valley College, has found a unique way to involve her students in a worthwhile community activity. As part of their "service-learning" project, Benney's students are hosting an educational expo called Mommy 411.
The event will be held on Saturday, August 16 in the Rock Valley College student center atrium from 12 to 3 p.m. The goal of the event is to create awareness for The Maternity House, a home for homeless pregnant women, and to celebrate mothers who are pursuing educational endeavors.
The students will give a presentation and there will also be educational planning booths, family activities, live music, free food, and giveaways, including two drawings for a free class at RVC.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information please call Amanda Benney at (815) 978-8047.
