Stockholm: Nobel Foundation announces winners of the 2009 Nobel Prize for Medicine. This year three Americans win Nobel Prize in Medicine. Elizabeth Blackburn, Carol Greider and Jack Szostak jointly share the award for the discovery of how chromosomes are protected by telomeres and the enzyme telomerase.
